Assessment of Seasonal Variations of Air Quality and AQI Status: Evidence from Chittagong, Bangladesh

With the rate of fast urbanization, devasting effects air pollution are spreading across globe. Due to its connection people’s health, quality should be given more importance than other environmental measures. Air is considered a cause many human diseases. Therefore, this study intends investigate seasonal variation and “Air Quality Index (AQI)” in Chittagong city due volume, large population density, as commercial capital Bangladesh. data on PM10, PM2.5, NO2 , NOx, SOx, CO, O3 levels have been collected from TV station, Khulshi Continuous Monitoring Station (CAMS). Component-specific analyzers used continuously measure trace gases where observed with UV photometric analyzer. This detect highest peak (PM2.5= 93.5 µg/m3, PM10= 210 µg/m3) January lowest concentrations 14.6 µg/m3 26.9 ) during July August. The average concentration has recorded value SO2= 12.8 ppb (monsoon season), NO2= 64.9 (pre-monsoon), CO= 1.2 ppm (monsoon) 3.2 (winter 24.4 (monsoon), 0.6 (pre-monsoon) respectively.
